Lottery officials are asking players to check their tickets to see if they are the lucky winner of a winning $1 million Powerball ticket purchased in May before it expires next month.

The winning ticket holder, which was sold at the Georgetown Shell in Wilton, has 31 days left to claim the prize, after Oct. 31, the money goes to the state's General Fund, and is gone forever.

On Friday, lottery officials asked people to recheck their tickets that include the winning numbers 5 - 14 - 31 - 40 - 50 and the Powerball 6.

The also posted winning ticket reminders for three $100,000 prizes including one Cash 5 ticket that hasn't been claimed that was purchased at the Super Stop & Shop, 760 Villa Ave., Fairfield. That winning ticket holder has until Nov. 5 to claim their prize.

If you're the lucky winner, go to a Lottery retailer or the state Lottery Headquarters in Rocky Hill, where the ticket will be validated.
